Band history
A band was formed inside 1984 by Chris Cornell (drums & vocals) and Hiro Yamamoto (bass), and was later joined by Kim Thayil (guitar), who had moved to Seattle from Illinois with Yamamoto and Bruce Pavitt, who would later start Sub Pop Records. A band was known as when an outdoor art/sound installation known as "The Sound Garden" located on NOAA property near Seattle's Magnuson Park which makes eerie sounds when a wind blows.

Cornell originally played drums when singing, however a band enlisted Scott Sundquist to free Cornell as much as concentrate in vocals. the band recorded 2 songs which appeared in a compilation for C/Z Records called Deep Six which also featured songs by Green River, Skin Yard, and The Melvins.

Within 1986 Sundquist left the band, to exist as replaced by Matt Cameron, who got been a drummer within Skin Yard. A band signed to Sub Pop, releasing a Screaming Life EP in 1987, and a Fopp EP within 1988. The compilation wwhen issued as Screaming Life/Fopp in 1990.

Though a band were existence courted by major labels, within 1988 they signed to SST Records to release their debut album, Ultramega OK, for which they earned the Grammy nomination. Inside 1989 the band released their number one album for the major label, Louder Than Love, released across A&M Records. When a release of the album Yamamoto left to last back to college. He was briefly replaced by Jason Everman, formerly of Nirvana, who appeared on the Louder Than Survive cd, however Ben Shepherd ended up in the band as a lasting replacement.

A fresh line higher recorded Badmotorfinger in 1991. Though successful, a album was overshadowed by Nirvana's Nevermind. A band toured by owning Guns N' Roses to support a album, & afterwards freed a cd Motorvision which was filmed on that tour.

A band manufactured an appearance in the moving picture Singles playing "Birth Ritual". the song appeared on the soundtrack album, when did a solo Cornell song, "Seasons". a film as well featured a clip from either the demonstration version of "Spoonman", a song from either a band's 1994 album, Superunknown.

Superunknown was the band's gaolbreak, caused per singles "Black Hole Sun", "Spoonman", and "Fell on Black Days".

A band's final album was 1996's Down on the Upside. Soundgarden announced its breakup around April 1997. The greatest-hits compilation, The-Sides, was freed two or three months late. Cornell went in to produce solo album Euphoria Morning and later formed a class action Audioslave along with ex-members of Rage Against The Machine, while Cameron toured by owning Pearl Jam for their 1998 Yield Tour and afterwards joined a band as a lasting member. Thayil joined forces using ex-Dead Kennedys vocalist Jello Biafra, former Nirvana bassist Krist Novoselic and drummer Gina Mainwal for one indicate, performing when a No WTO Combo during the WTO ministerial conference in Seattle in December 1, 1999 and would later contribute guitar tracks to Dave Grohl's side-design's album (PROBOT), which was released within 2004.

In May 24, 2005, Audioslave released Out of Exile, the followup to their self highborn debut album. It debuted at #1 on the Hoarding stock and index charts.
